Danish Estates: Benni Jorgensen Smooth Bent Brandy

Product Number: 004-150-0073

Long and sweeping of shank, full and round of bowl, with everything kept taut and firm throughout every line and curve, Benni Jørgensen's renditions of the bent Brandy are consistently impressive. Aiding the balance of this remarkable piece, you'll also notice there's a line running from both sides of the heel to the step of the stem that gives the otherwise high and upright composition some much needed heavy visual weight along its underside.

The Danish carver and W.Ø. Larsen alum also has somewhat of a signature trick with these tall-bowled pieces, taking the afore-mentioned line and flicking it up into a fin-like flare on the saddle stem. It's something you usually won't see with more low-waisted numbers, with the extra visual weight rendering the composition back heavy and bringing the forward momentum to a screeching halt. It's the kind of attention to detail that makes Benni Jørgensen pipes so favourable amongst collectors.
