American Estates: Brad Pohlmann Sandblasted Speeding Tomato with Camel Bone (2018)

Product Number: 004-149-0199

Brad Pohlmann has been making pipes since 1976, though for many years he pursued another career in the computer industry. Since 2003, he's returned to his original calling and has been making pipes full-time to the joy of his customers and collectors. Carving pipes in the peaceful surrounding in his rural Oregon workshop among towering trees and rivers chocked with wild salmon, his creativity flourishes.

Brad is also a trained tool and dye maker, so he's as familiar turning a bowl of briar as he is steel for crafting his own chamber bits and other necessary tools. Extremely focused on the details of engineering, Brad is one of the only pipe makers we know of that talks about measurements in thousandths of an inch, versus millimeters or fractions. All of his pipes are carved from selected briar and are beautifully stained and finished to bring out the beauty his hands have shaped. Working with vulcanite rod and Delrin tenons, with the occasional bamboo, his pieces often include accents such as exotic woods and horn. Aside from his shimmering smooth pipes, Brad is also a leading force in the blasting world.
