Chris Asteriou's Strawberry design has become one of the Greek carver's signature shapes in recent years, most often characterised by a flaring, often bulbous Acorn-like bowl in addition to the form's defining heel spur below the transition. A signature though isn't really a signature until a carver has moved on from producing similar iterations into pushing the boundaries of the shape — a developmental stage which Chris has most definitely reached — delivering variations of the Strawberry that tweak the scale, lines, proportions, and finish of each one in such a way that no two examples are ever identical.

With this piece Asteriou — also well-known for executing high-skilled tributes to classic shapes — delivers something that delves into that other part of his oeuvre, opting for a horn army mount with a more modest flare toward the saddle stem and placing more visual weight on the poised, plump bowl. In terms of finish, Chris presents it again in a more reserved manner, with an extra-dark, crisp sandblast that allows the shape's whimsical lines and beautiful silhouette to truly shine.
