Ping Zhan: Smooth Bent Dublin

Product Number: 002-226-0002

Long and lithe, with plenty of soft curves and one pleasingly elongated line along the base, this bent Dublin from Ping Zhan — known for his unique take on the Japanese and Danish shape charts — serves as the perfect introduction of his pipes to our site. This gracile little piece perfectly combines both traditional and modern elements of both schools, particularly in its use of asymmetry to provide not one but two subtle s-curves: one viewed from above as the flared shank juts left before meeting the saddle stem, itself curving to the right and then returning to the centre position; plus another, more traditional curve in profile.

Stained in a warm red contrast, both the domed rim and sloped back shank-end of this smooth piece are interrupted by craggy plateau, with the latter sporting an inset style army mount that's been specially shaped to match the craggy texture.
