Forgoing his usual playful colour palettes in favour of a jet-black saddle bit and golden tan finish over a crisp sandblast, Sam has kept the focus solely on this piece clearly on the shaping.

With an archetypal Acorn bowl sitting proudly atop an extra wide shank, Sam has created two lines on either side of the bowl, running parallel to the gentle curve of the underside and leading into a stem with only the hint of a bend. It's a different take on the Acorn for Sam, but an ultimately successful one, balancing a stouter bowl and shank to the wafer thin bit and propelling the whole piece forward.
