Tom Eltang: Smooth Bent Dublin with Horn

Product Number: 002-202-0020

Tom Eltang has created a remarkably active rendition of the Dublin shape here, with a profile defined by the sleek, underlying curve of the shank, and flowing uninterrupted through the heel into the bowl's fore. Such a smooth flowing line, then, is contrasted by the bowl's aft — flicking suddenly upward out of the transition as it rises to a rim that's been canted sharply back. The grain — brought out by a warm contrast stain — matches the shape perfectly as straight and flame grain adorn the entire bowl, leaving birdseye along the slightly inflated rim and top and bottom of the shank. Finally, it's matched to a jet black saddle stem, inlayed with naturally striated horn and bearing a perfectly formed button that's typical of Tom's work.
