Made by Danish carver Lasse Skovgaard — a talented pipemaker, W.Ø. Larsen alum, one-time student of Teddy Knudsen, and son of Benni Jorgensen —'By Skovgaard' pipes offer his personal shaping aesthetic and finishing style at price more accessible to the average pipe smoker.

Like most artisan carvers, Lasse generally fashions his pieces completely by hand, all the way from stummel to stem (and any ornamentation in-between). In the 'By Skovgaard' line though, he utilises mouthpieces already made to his specifications, which he then modifies further to accompany each shape. Every stummel is still shaped and finished by hand, fitted to the pre-made stem, and hand sanded, shaped and buffed to match. The streamlined stem process merely allows Skovgaard to both produce more pieces and offer them at a more approachable price.
