G. Penzo: Smooth Bent Egg with Boxwood (Flame) (A)
Product Number: 002-275-0010
Moving between shape chart classics and organic forms with deftness and ease, Giacomo Penzo's background in industrial design, a passion for crafting pipes since the age of seventeen, and time spent in Massimiliano "Max" Rimensi's workshop is on full display here in this supplely lined Bent Egg. With a forward cant to the near horizontal Egg bowl and a gentle, sinuous curve from the fore of the bowl, through the transition, and to the lightly bent saddle stem, the whole piece is lent a feeling of urgent forward movement. Paired to a spalted boxwood ferrule with an army style mount, it's been finished in a warm, rich contrast walnut finish to highlight a grain pattern worthy of his "Flame" grade designation.
