While Savinelli as a brand has evolved considerably over the decades, Punto Oro has remained a mainstay since the founding of the modern era of Savinelli pipes--when the factory in Barasso opened--in the late 1950s. A very small percentage of Savinelli's production qualify for the gold dot, and the pipes are finished to an exacting standard. Today, the Punto Oro line is organised into a few groups with specific characteristics, with Punto Oro Gold and Punto Oro Classic being the most common lines.
