The Jucunda is a rare Ser Jacopo offering, yet an inconspicuous one as well. It isn't a matter of shape, accent, or even finish really — though Jucundas are almost always sandblasted. What Jucunda is, is a pipe that has received the old oil curing process, the stummel having been left to soak in a bath of special oils that penetrate the briar, then set on a heated peg until those oils have all "sweated" out, then further air-cured. Though this sort of process was once advertised by quite a few makers, its time-consuming nature has seen it go out of practice for all but very few, making this particular piece all the more special for its use.
