A Rhodesian with a long and elegant form, this sandblasted piece from Max Rimensi of Il Duca offers a well-rounded bowl with a soft, organically inclined arc at the waistline, matching the soft curvature at the transition and heel. The willowy shank-and-stem combination highlights Max's use of bamboo, here presented in a dark form with three dramatic knuckles before gradually tapering to the button. While the sandblast itself is relatively low profile, it certainly provides plenty of grain for the contrast stain to elevate itself, especially among the whorls of birdseye at the rim and base. Max is known for bringing his own unique sensibilities to traditional shapes, and this highly organic Rhodesian serves to throw that reputation into relief.
