Peterson: Sandblasted Amber Stem Spigot (69)

Product Number: 002-172-3778

Peterson's Amber Spigot line combines the Irish marque's signature knack for silverwork with a touch of the old world thanks to mouthpieces cut and shaped from genuine amber (as well as a more durable and travel-friendly jet-black acrylic stem). Fitted with sterling silver around both the shank end and stem base in a spigot mount arrangement, it provides further reinforcement and durability — as well as providing for a little more elegance than that of a standard military mount.

Note: Genuine amber stems were characteristic of some of the earliest briar pipes, dating back to the 1800s, and as such are more delicate than other stem materials. Take care when removing the stem, and do so only by gripping the silver tenon rather than the actual amber itself. Also, while thinner, regular pipe cleaners will work fine, avoid extra fluffy or bristled cleaners, as they might damage the amber. When cleaning use only a small amount of alcohol if needed, do not buff, soak, or clean the amber stem with anything abrasive. We also recommend avoiding clenching or holding these pipes in your teeth, again to prevent damage to the vintage amber. As with vulcanite, amber stems also should not be left in direct sunlight.
