German carver Werner Mummert is well known for his innovation in design and skill in precise execution. This Poker is particularly innovative, providing reverse Calabash engineering with a clear, tempered glass shank extending through the bowl under the draft hole and fitted with a cavalier-style cap on its far side for dispensing any accumulated moisture (as well as making for easier cleaning), and fitted with a swirled cumberland-style acrylic stem that chromatically matches the red and black contrast stain of the bowl. Finished with a superlative, deep and craggy sandblast that's a delight to feel in hand, it sits ably for convenience, and while the size of the bowl visually indicates a very deep tobacco chamber, that chamber's heel rides above the glass condensation tube and thus provides more moderately proportioned dimensions.
