Lasse Skovgaard, the son of Benni Jorgensen, makes pipes in beautiful Praesto, Denmark. As a young man he began working for W.Ø. Larsen, at first as an apprentice for his father, and was soon crafting some of their beautiful straight-grain pieces. Taking early lessons from his father and Teddy Knudsen (and later sharing a workshop with Teddy), Lasse has developed his own style of sandblasting and finishing — something of a light blast with contrasted peaks.

Lasse's style, unsurprisingly, reflects that of his father to a great degree. Both father and son exhibit strong stylistic influences from Teddy, and more broadly, the W.Ø. Larsen stylistic school that Teddy did so much to define. As is often the case in this hobby of ours though, these similarities soon diverged, leaving two related but distinctive style. Nowhere is this more apparent than in their more avant-garde pieces where often the seed of a shape — from Lasse's Whale shape to his Elephant's Foot shapes, and more recently his Nut or Shield shapes — can be traced through Benni to Teddy and the Larsen workshop, with the resulting compositions still being very much his own.
