Savinelli: Ovalina Sandblasted 28/150 (901) (6mm)
Product Number: 002-163-2989
At its most popular back in the 1950s, the Opera pipe was the go-to piece for the gent catching a show. With an oval shaped bowl making for a low profile, it fit nicely into a breast pocket without disturbing the lines of the smoker's ensemble — particularly handy during an occasion when a larger pocketed coat would have been checked at the door. The shape eventually waned in popularity though, as they were hard to produce and events in which they were most useful became fewer and farther between. A few factories still produce them even today, though in considerably smaller quantities. Dunhill's Evening Dress "25 for one and, of course, Savinelli with their "901" — rendered here as the Ovalina series with a warm brown sandblast paired to a brilliant yellow, semi-opaque acrylic stem. Limited to 150 pieces — not coincidentally the number of models in Savinelli's shape chart — each is individually stamped and available in both 6mm and 9mm.
Note: While all of our other pipes are photographed individually, these are not, and you may expect some reasonable cosmetic variation between the example we've photographed and the pipe you've received.
